Green & Grey

HM, grey knit // MONKI , jeans // WEEKDAY, coat // HM, boots & scarf (old) // DKNY, watch (sold out) similar HERE // JIMMY FAIRLY, bag

Won't you look at that, I've finally crawled out of my No Blogging hole. Took me long enough, and I have to admit I almost forgot I had a blog for a second but then I remembered and realised I really wanted to get back into the swing of things, so here I am. Fingers crossed I won't dissapear again.

I've just got my hands on two of the things I was lusting after in the hm x alexander wang collection (will be sharing once it's on my door, don't worry), plus had a super yummy breakfast so I figured I'd keep the good morning going by doing a blogpost on yesterdays outfit.

This grey knit is my baby, I practically live in it on cold mornings when leaving my bed is extra painful. I was looking everywhere for a boyfriend style blazer coat this summer and found this gem reduced 70%  when visiting family up north, been a staple ever since the weather got colder as it is perfect for layering. Whenever I go oversized on the top half I tend to go for skinny jeans to balance it all out, these Monki ones are super skinny but so so comfy, and they dont go baggy after a long day - win.

I am not big on bags but I love these type of fabric shopping bags. I got this one when I bought my glasses from Jimmy Fairly but they are sold everywhere with lots of different prints. Perfect for uni or if you want to be more eco friendly when shopping and not use plastic bags :) Last but not least I had to get a close up of my new watch. My old one broke so I was over excited when I managed to get my hands on this in the DKNY sale for only £50.

I'm glad to be back on here again and I hope you lovely lot who keep clicking by will keep doing so now that I'll be putting some more content up!

Confession Time

For the past six months I have had a bit of a struggle with blogging. 3 years ago I started a blog, it wasn't my first one but my previous ones were deleted and I wanted to make a new one. My main reason was to blog about my time and experiences living in Colombia with my parents as an expat family. For a while that was all it was, but halfway through our stay I decided I wanted to blog about something other that what I was doing and so I slowly turned what was then called Me In Colombia into Someone In The Corner. A beauty and fashion blog. I say fashion but do I mean it? Not really. The thing is I always wanted to make SITC a fashion and personal style blog, but due to many different reasons never did and just stuck to the beauty. For the past year/six months I have grown more and more interested in clothes, style and fashion, and beauty and makeup has become more of a routine rather than something I love exploring. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy doing my makeup and still care about treating my skin well, but I used to love spending ages in the cosmetics section of department shops, just trying and discovering products whilst now I go in, get what I need and leave. Now it is clothes I spend hours on.

What I am trying to say is that the reason to why my blog has lacked love recently is because I have been struggling to find a way to go from beauty to fashion, yet I haven't been able to keep writing exciting posts about beauty. Hence I have been stuck in a bit of a rut. In other words, I am trying to find my own way of doing 'fashion blogging'. It's currently all just being planned in my head and in numerous different notebooks, but it is happening.

I have made a deal with myself that when I go back to manchester in September my blog will no longer be a beauty blog, but a fashion blog with a splash of beauty. I am excited to finally get this all sorted and stop the halfheartedly written blog posts.

Alright! I didn't mean for that to be oh so serious but what can you do? I don't think you will be hearing from me until I am back in Manc, but in the mean time may I suggest you all go and grab the Marie Claire Runway magazine - it is bloody brilliant and will prep you for AW14 trends like no other mag. I for one devoured mine on the flight back from a week in sunny south of France yesterday.

Ciao Bellas!

Product Picks For A Summer Face

When it comes to face makeup I can't get enough. I love trying new primers, bases, bronzers and highlighters. The whole shabang. As it's been absolutely gorgeous weather over here this summer (past few weeks have been sunfilled and hot hot hot - talking 30 degrees) I haven't been wearing much on my face most days, but on makup days the following has been my go-to mix for the face:

To prep and give my face a bit of colour and glow I use Clarins Instant Smooth Self Tanning and my well loved Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer. If I feel the need for foundation I will go for Chanel Vitalumière Aqua and then go over the under eye area and any spots with my MAC Studio Finish Concealer, some days though I skip the foundation and just go over with some studio finish.

To shape things up I reach for Too Faced Chocolate Soleil for some bronzing and contouring as I find that this product has the perfect colour tone for me for the summertime. For blush I tend to go with MAC Extra Dimension Blush in Seduced at Sea unfortunately this is limited edition from the Alluring Aquatics Collection but I do believe you can still get it online. If not Benefit Rockateur is a good dupe. To finish it all off I use the highlighter in the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette and I have to say - this is probably my favourite highlighter of all time.

So that's it, my go-to summer face makeup for the days I feel like putting on a little something something. I'd love to know if you have a few products you reach for more during the warmer months! Let me know in the comments!

Top 3 Summer Lipsticks

MAC Show Orchid / MAC Lady Danger / Chanel
I have been a 'beauty gal' for quite a few years now but its only this past year or so that I've found a love for lipsticks. I am still not a fan of the lipgloss and don't really see that changing any time soon but lipsticks, oh yes.

The only thing with me is I don't go for the typical nudes and pinks. If I wear lipstick it is more often than not a bright or bold one, and if I do go for a nude it is one out of the only two I own. A post all about my two nudes is coming right around the corner so stay tuned if you're a nude lips kind of girl.

Anyway, back to my point. Bold and bright lips. I love my MAC Rebel but sometimes I feel like something 'happier' as Rebel is sometimes a bit dark especially for summer and it is then that I reach for the three above.

Show Orchid has been on my wishlist since I read about it on Becky's blog(One you definitely need to check out if you haven't already. She's a top girl that one) and I finally got my hands on it at the pro store in London. It's a MAC amplified so it is super opaque and has a bloody brilliant staying power. All 8 hours of my shift with only one teeny touch up to be precise.

Lady Danger was all Molly's fault (another top girl right there), although I do thank her for making me buy it as it is the most perfect matte, orange toned red I have come across.

As for the Chanel Mélodieuse - Who can say anythng bad about chanel?  This bad boy has got the mix of peach and pink just right so that I don't feel like a barbie doll nor a wannabe fruit. It has a very moisturising consistency and bit of a stain-like finish which I think is perfect for the summer months. I got mine in my Marie Claire beauty bag and it has been living in my bag ever since.

What are your go-to summer lipsticks?
