The Minis

As a Shopaholic and a gold member of practically every beauty store available it is a given that I end up with quite a stock of mini products, samples and testers. As time passes the lovely ladies and men behind the counters drop more and more products into my bag and I keep on putting them in my bathroom drawr forgetting what I actually have in there. A few months ago I decided it was time to have a look and sort thought what I wanted to try and what I wanted to toss away or give to someone else. This led to me having a serious stash of goodies to test, especially in the skin-care category, and after working my way through serum after serum and all the eye creams you could imagine - a few have actually made the cut to my much beloved skincare routine... So here they are, the current little minis that I love and adore.

REN's Frankincence Revitalising Night Cream  - a wonderful, thick but not sticky night cream that sinks in quickly and leaves your skin feeling hydrated and healthy.

Nip + Fab Dry Leg Fix - first thought when I got this was 'is this really necessary?'. Turns out that no, in all honesty it isn't but it still works wonders on dry legs which happend to have been a bit if an issue with the change of weather lately.

Clarins Instant Eye Make-up Remover - after hearing fellow waterproof mascara wearer Anna - at viviannadoesmakeup rave about this I was excited when the shop lady popped it into my shopping bag a few weeks ago. And although it doesn't remove it in an instant it does do it rather quickly compared to other make-up removers.

Clarins Eye Contour Gel - another Clarins baby. Finally an eye cream (well a gel..) that doesn't give me red spots under the eyes! Lovely, light, cooling and it really brightens and smooths the under eye area. Big thumbs up.

Smashbox High Definition Concealer - small enough to put in even a little purse, covering enough to hide them bad guys and still natural and long lasting enough for everyday wear. Purrrfection.

'Just Cavalli' by Roberto Cavalli - my new obsession. I'll save you from my dreadful scent descriptions and steal the words from the pro's. 'Provocative and mischievous, the Just Cavalli woman captivates with dazzling Neroli flower. She is a snake charmer tempting her prey with a magnetic Tiare flower ending with a seductive creamy palissander bite.' (source) 

I will admit that some of these have now been purchased in full sizes, so be warned all you lovelies - the minis may be small but they sure as hell aren't innocent. The Hair Care Edit

As we speak I am trying not to overthink my uni packing too much and have decided to go for the 'take all you can fit' approach, which seems to be working out..for now at least. After spending too much time selecting clothes I decided to do head to my bathroom for a smack-down of products there instead. It turned out to be a quick 'un and since I now have my staples in front of me I figured I'd do a Hair Care post before I stack them in a corner of the small *erhm-large* beauty section of my suitcase.

I do like to take care of my hair, but I in contrast to my make-up routine I like for it to be quick. Because of that I do most of the 'care-taking' whilst I'm in the shower and leave only one or two products for afterwards. 

For a good old thourough cleanse of my hair I usually opt for Aussie's Mega Shampoo or  Miracle Moist Shampoo both of which smells like heaven in a bottle. I use the latter mainly when my hair is over on the dry side of things and the other for just a nice clean scalp (ugh that sounded gross). For the days when I want to wash my hair as quickly as possible but still have it looking good Aussie 3 Minute Miracle really is a miracle and a life saver. Glossy, soft hair in no time - or at least 3 minutes which gives you just enough time to scrub your body, shave them legs or cleanse your face. For the days when I have a few extra minutes I take my fairly new found love L'oréal's Mythic Oil, a smooth, buttery/oily - but not grasy or heavy- deep conditioner. I apply this from my eras and down, focusing most of the product at the ends. This should be called mystic oil because god knows what they put in this that makes your hair so darn amazing. I haven't seen a dry tip or split end in weeks and that's a rare sight, so mahusive thumbs up for this guy.

As for the pre and post hair care I don't do much but if I'm styling my hair I use the Paul Mitchell Express Style - Heat Off The Press heat protector + style spray. It smells divinge and doesn't leave my hair feeling crispy at all. If my hair looks dull I have recently started doing a bit of pre-shower caring. I use my Kicks Multi-Usage Oil which can be used as a finishing oil but I find it too greasy, so instead I get very generous with it about 20 minutes before I jump in the shower and take it though the lenghts of my hair (sometimes even the roots + scalp, but then you've got to shampoo twice to make sure you rinse it all out). This makes me look like I've put on a wig that's a mix of Severus Snape's greasy hair and Lucifus Malfoy's flatter than flat hair, but regardless - once I've rinsed it all out and washed my hair as normal it's well worth it :) 

By using these products I have managed to get my hair to a state where it's not heavy, über glossy and flat with too much stuff in it but not dry and frizzy either. Just nice and soft with a little shine! Let me know what you use on your hair!

Tartar On My Eyes

Ignore the little smudge/fall down under the 'wing' I only saw it after I took the pictures, Whops!

Earlier this year Nars launched their new Eye Paints/Gel Eyeliners and although I heard good things of them I wasn't all over the internet trying to get my hands on them. However, last week my mom's cousin from New York came to visit, and as she's working in the beauty business she came carrying quite a few goodies for us to choose from, from various brands - including Nars and their lovely little pots of colour. I selected a gorgeous black with purple shimmer in it called Tartar. As the beauty junkie that I am I wante to try it out immediately and yesterday I did a winged liner look with it that came out quite nice so I thought I'd share it with you. For a quick run-down of the look and how I achieved it, keep on reading!

As a base I used the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation with my Sigmax Angled Kabuki Brush and buffed that in to a natural, but flawles finish. I did my contouring with my new love Benefit Hoola and the brush it comes with, which I happen to love in contrast to more or less everyone else. For blusher I popped on a bit of Sleek's Squash from the Pumpkin trio and my TopShop Cream highlighter went on my cheekbones as usual. 

For my eyes I used a large fluffy brush to softly apply a warm brown all over my lids, and I decided to multi-use and went for my Hoola bronzer here as well, which worked perfectly! Then I lined my upper and lower lashline with Teddy Eye Pencil by MAC and softly blended it before I came in with the Nars  Gel Liner in Tartar and made a winged line allowing Teddy to peek out above it :) After some curling of the lashes with my MAC lash curler and some lashings of the Lancome Hypnose Mascara the look was complete!

The Makeover

A couple weeks ago my dear friend Rebekka got a little makeover from me, and although she is absolutely gorgeous without any make-up, you could really tell how much of a differenc make-up can do. I really liked how it turned out and wanted to share the "difference" with all of you, so after asking her permission here it is :) 

 I went for glowing skin and bronzed up eyes using a good amount of cream products. On the cheeks I put my much loved Sleek Contour in medium, the Bourjois cream blush in 02 and my trusty TopShop cream highligher from the little quad they do. For the eyes I started with Maybeline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze as a base with MAC's Woodwinked all over, Cork in the outer crease and Omega to soften up the edges. As an inner highligt I used Virgin in the UD Naked palette. I did also apply some Diorskin Nude mixed with Clinique's Even Better foundation for a flawless base (applied that before the cheek+eyes obviously) as well as filling in her eyebrows a tiny bit with Benefit BrowZings. And with that I was done!

Give Me a Chance... or Three?

As you saw in one of my most recent posts (Duty Free Haul), I am a bit in love with the Chanel Chance perfume(s). The thing is I am this obsessed with them:

And you see the big empty original one to the left? That is my third one of the eau de toilette. I know, I am a bit of a crazy one, but look elsewhere for an apology because these three babies are the best smelling round glass bottles anyone could ever dream of and you are missing out if you've never had a sniff.

I won't attempt a detailed description of what exactly the Chance scents smell like, but I will insert what the people Chanel say:

So to sum it up it is a slightly sensual fragrance that is filled with energy and youth. Eau Fraíche, which is limited edition I believe, has some added citrus as well as hints of floral and woody notes. Eau Tendre is definitely the lightest one and in my opinion quite floral, but it remains fresh, clean and youthful. I love all these fragrances and doubt I'll be roaming the shelves for any replacements anytime soon. I highly suggest that you ask for a little tester next time you're at a perfume retailer ;)

Duty Free Pick-Ups

Alright, so I am back from Scotland and T in the Park (which was amazing and epic by the way), and with me I bring a few sneaky treats from the duty free's great selection. 

I have been eyeing the Chanel perfume for ages now as I am already a fan of the original eau de toilette version as well as the eau tendre, and I finally got round to actually getting it. A fresh, female and flirty (but not sweet) scent that it seems like everyone tends to like. I suggest you go have a sniff at it the next time it crosses your path :) Next I got the Dior Diorskin Nude BB Cream, and boy do I get what the hype's about! I'll do a review on it, but hold on to your horses because this is a knock out! Then as a last minute 'throw it in your bag before its your turn to pay' pick up I found the OPI nail polish in 'Red Lights Ahead..Where?' in a box next to the check out. Hate it when they do that - I always end up buying things just because they're there not because I necessarily want or need them. Luckily this wasn't one of those products, but rather a real home-run that I have been sporting since the moment I got home. A gorgeous coral with hints of red and a name that I happen to love.

I am very satisfied with the three goodies I got, although my bank account might feel otherwise... Anyway, new post will be up in not too long!

June Beauty Favourites

Wow this year just flies by doesn't it? I can't believe it is already July! Oh well, I can't say I am complaining, summer is definitely my favourite season. But time and weather aside, as a new month has arrived the best beauty gems from the past one are brought out into light to be shared with the rest of the beauty-obsessed community. And without further or-do, here are mine!

In June I had a bit of a "summer clean-out" of my make-up which led to rediscoveries of long forgotten products. One of them being the Nars Blush and Contour Trio (1.) containing the well known blusher Orgasm, the highlighter Albatros and everyone's favourite bronzer Laguna. I got back into using this and could not for the life of me understand why I'd ever stopped, then the mini spots on my cheeks returned and the dreaded memory returned, reminding me that these are no-no products if I want my skin to be spot-free. Apart from that - with these three on my face I get the best looking healthy, bronzed glow I've ever had, hence it is a fave.

Number 2 is a newbie, brought back from Colombia. The Real Techniques Blush Brush is a big star in my brush collection now a days. Looking for a multitask brush - this is it. Blush, bronzer, contour, setting powder - this bad boy does it all. Number 3 is one of the products Molly sent me (post here) and it is one of her favourites too. Of course I'm talking about the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara - ahh there are nothing but good things to say about this.

4 is a new everyday staple, the Revlon Brow Fantasy in Brunette. Makes doing your brows very quick and easy. Number 5 has been worn almost every day since I got it, Teddy Eye Khol by MAC (haul here). Just like the eye khol, I have been wearing the MAC Eyeshadow Cork more or less on a daily basis. It is a perfect neutral, soft brown for the lid/crease.

Number 7 and 8 have made up my base along with the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser most days, the Rimmel Wake Me Up gives the dewy, glow my face needs for long hours at work and MAC Studio Finish Concealer (another rediscovery) hides any sign of late nights or too much sugar that your skin may be sporting.

All in all this has been a good beauty months - I have gotten a bit of a new routine and I am no longer stuck wearing my same-old same old smokey liner and tinted moisturiser look. High Five for that eh?

The Beauty Box Swap

A few months ago I got talking with this very lovely girl and fellow blogger, Molly (check out her blog here) and after a few days of normal chit chat we decided to do what is known as a 'Beauty Box Swap' where two people buy beauty products for a set sum and send them to the other person. We decided to go for a budget of £50 where 1 product would be a high-end one. I sent Molly's package just before I left on holiday (see what was in it here) and found her's waiting for me once I got back home. I have been waiting to do a post about what I got as I thought I'd do mini reviews of the products as well, but I realised that I couldn't wait any longer and just had to share her gorgeous selection with you all. REviews of some of the products will be up soon though! Anyway here  it comes!

+ a Burt's Bees Mango Lip Balm that I love so much it's already moved into my handbag (explains why it's not in the pictures)

As you can see I got a hella' lot of things and they're all brilliant if I say so myself. The Cream Blush and Mascara are already practically part of my everyday routine and so are the three Soap and Glory products (gotta love S&G right? Smells like sugar and sweets!). I haven't gotten around to trying the small testers nor the wipes but I am sure I will love them all, especially the Dr Weil + Origins Serum as i know Molly raves about it :) And last but not least, the tea is divine! I am a tea and coffee person to the fullest and the flavours she chose (Strawberry & Kiwi and Blackberry & Elderflower) are honestly some of the best tasting teas I've tried :) I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to Molly - you chose some great products! You should all check out her blog, she does some great reviews and beauty posts in general!

What's In My Bag?

Before I went on vacation a few weeks ago I realised I had no appropriate travel bag. Don't get me wrong, I have enough bags, but they're all of smaller sizes, I don't really go for the big sized ones so I decided to venture out on a little "big-bag" mission. I came back with a massive, spacious beauty that didn't hurt my bank account much at all. For £25 I got this black tote (p)leather - good quality and very sturdy - bag from H&M. They don't have this exact one online, but they do have a similar one here.

MoneySuperMarket is currently doing a competition where you show people what's in your bag and they will reward one lucky winner with a Mulberry bag, purse and phone case, and I mean, who doesn't want to have the chance of winning that. Therefore I am today sharing the contents of my Travel Bag with you. I figured a travel edition was a bit more appropriate around these times as everyone seems to be going somewhere. And also, my everyday contents aren't all that interesting if I'm honest. So let's get on with it!

Oh, and one more thing, the contest also asks you to see how much your bag's content is worth, therefore I will include all the prizes :)

Oh wow. I know I have a computer and a phone in there but still, carrying around something with a value of over £1700 is kind of crazy... Although if I were to remove the two (phone and computer) the rest would only end up at about £145,5 which I guess isn't too bad. Then again when am I ever without my phone? And when I travel I usually bring my laptop (that's what you get for having a blog... ;)) so yeah... MoneySupermarket's competition said to show what you carry with you on a daily basis and although I don't always carry all of this with me - I did bring more or less the same things to school and if my job wasn't being a waitress I suspect that I'd bring something like this to work as well so I guess these are my essentials that I can't go "anywhere" without :)

The Skin Saver

I'm sorry - I've been completely MIA lately, and I don't even have a good excuse for it. I've had enough time, and I even have several posts all ready to go up - so I don't know what my problem has been.. Anyway, I shall try not to forget the fact that I have a blog to update from now on. Deal?

So over to today's post - You see I've had my mind blown away by yet another product. Although this time it was completely unexpected and unintentional. Usually I hear the rave and give in only to realise that yes, the product is good or that there must be something severely wrong with me for hating something that everyone else seems to love (Benefit's They're Real, I'm looking at you..) The story with this was different. I was at my local beauty department store picking up a few things I needed when I was given a few testers as I paid. The testers you may wonder, were of a new cleansing series from Kanebo Sensai. My initial thought when I saw the label was ' Ouch. Why did I have to fall in love with one of the world's most expensive cosmetics brands?' Luckily I came to my senses and realised that I was thinking about Shiseido and that that was the brand that would have killed me with its pries.The two products I have tried are actually priced fairly reasonable...if you compare them to other high end skincare products. 

Once my teeny tiny testers were about to run out (after over 2 weeks daily use - I was shocked by how long they lasted!) I decided to purchase the full size version of the cleanser at the duty free on my way back from Colombia. When I got the testers I received a make-up remover and a cleansing soap. Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Milk and Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Creamy Soap. The latter has proven to be revolutionary good leaving me with better looking skin than I've had in ages. It feels and looks smooth, I haven't had any big break-outs since, only the occasional mini spots, but they've all disappeared in about a day or so. I feel like £34 was a well worth it price to pay for nice skin, and the more I think about it the more I want to get the make-up remover too.. whops.

If you ever come across these beauties at a counter or a shop, then do ask for a sample as they might blow your mind too :) And for reference I have normal to combination skin and the products are said to be for dry to combination skin.

The Collection

I got a request from Becky over at Beauty and the B to do a post on my make-up collection so today that is exactly what I am going to do. I won't include my brushes as they are all in the need for some cleaning after travelling (haven't gotten around to that yet..whops). I know some of you might think my collection is small while others might think it is big however, just a quick disclaimer; I am not trying to brag or show off - I am simply sharing how I store my make-up and giving a quick overview of what I have. MAC oh MAC

Naughty, Naughty...

Ahh, there really is nowhere like home, or at least nowhere like my own bed. I am currently back in Norway and it feels good to know that I have a while to just relax, work a little and enjoy the summer before I head off to the rest of my summer plans. I might love travelling but I do love to staay at home a bit too :) Anyway, whilst I was in Colombia I headed over to the highly beloved MAC store I used to go to, just to take advantage of the better prizes and large selection (compared to the tiny counter we have here in my hometown). Although they didn't have the #1 thing on my list which is the lipstick Show Orchid ( on my wish list thanks to Becky over at Beauty and the B) I managed to leave the place with a few new products in my possession. Show Orchid is still on my list and I will venture out on an adventure like dora the explorer in order to get my hands on it, but apart from that my MAC cravings are settled...for now at least. Oh and sorry for the countless hauls now a days.. I promise this is the last one in a while, unless I do a clothing haul from Colombia as well in that case that will be the last one :)

Now let's just face the fact that what I said earlier was one big lie. What beauty girl can ever stop her MAC cravings? Not me at least. Satin Taupe, Charcoal Brown, Honey Lust oh the list of eyeshadows I wish I owned is endless, as is the list of lipsticks, paint pots and just all things MAC. All White and Goddess-Like

Hello lovelies! First of all, I have now selected the winners for my giveaway (by random of course) and they are Molly, Megan and Hanna! Congratulations to the three of you! Second of all, I am now in Cartagena - a beautiful city (well the old part of the town is at least) at the coast of Colombia. The weather here is very humid and very, very warm. I'm talking 35 degrees ++++. Anyways being here has made me forget my blog a bit - as I always do on holiday, but I am taking pictures and filming a bit all the time so a big - ass post on the whole of my holiday will be up once I get home. 

Okay, enough rambling. The other night we went out to eat at a very lovely restaurant from which I ended up practically rolling home from because I ate so much. As a beauty-fashion gal I saw this as an opportunity to whack out my new, long, white Zara dress that I got the other day. I paired it whit my mint H&M bag, my new studded leather heels from Tennis (an incredible Colombian shop) and some bronzed-up eyes. Realised afterwards how greek goddess inspired it was but oh well, that's not the worst thing one can appear like eh? My mom snapped a few pictures of me before we left the hotel so you can judge for yourselves. And please excuse the awkward facial expressions...I won't have my mom take my pictures from now on, haha.

For the eyes I used the Maybeline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze (US name: Bad to the Bronze) as a base, swiped MAC's Woodwinked all over and added some of MAC's Cork through the crease. Then slid some of the Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir and added a bit of Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara  to my lashes. Voila, goddess - like golden eyes. On the lips I patted some of MAC's Costa Chic and for a bit of a glow I patted some of my creamy highlighter from TopShop across the tops of my cheekbones.

Now I'm off to distract my self from the insanely itchy mosquito bites that so stupidly have decided to appear on my legs...

A Little Beauty Haul

I went on a little shopping spree yesterday and picked up a few bits and bobs from the local drugstore/"colombian sephora".  I know I love to see what others buy so eve though I recently did one and probably will do a few more very soon, I figured I'd do one today as well, because a girl can never buy enough beauty products right?

Starting with the star of the haul, the Bioderma Micellaire cleanser has been on my wish list for quite some time now so when I saw it on the shelf I grabbed it before anyone had a chance to say "may I help you?" something they do every fifth second down here... Had my first try yesterday but I think I'll need to keep trying it before I say any big words about it.

Another product I've been eyeing is the Revlon Brow Fantasy which I have heard good things about from several bloggers and vloggers, especially MakeUpByTiffanyD. I got it in the shade dark blond but I think I could've got away with a brunette version. Haven't tried this yet, but a review will be up once I do!

Then I saw my little baby, the Hask Hair Argan Oil and well, I am now in possession of a fairly big stock of this life saver. I have one thing to say regarding this, and it is that it is the best and the cheapest hair oil I have ever tried. Double thumbs up.

Last but not least I had to get a new tub of the best leave-in deep hair treatment there is. The Orgnx EnRich hair mask saves my dry hair from being dry and leaves it nourished and healthy without being heavy or too silky soft.

 That was it for this haul, I have a clothes haul and a MAC haul coming up as well as another make-up post. Will try to get on with the OOTD's now that I am recovering form my long week of 'da flu'. Toodlepip!

The Event

I am finally starting to feel a bit better. Started taking antibiotics yesterday so I think they are starting to work already. Thank the lords. 

Anyways, on Thursday I struggled myself out of bed and went to my old school's graduation. I was supposed to graduate with them had it not been for the fact that well, I moved back to Norway and started a different school. Yesterday was prom but every inch of my body told me not to go so I figured I'd listen to it and stay in bed, which was a good decision I think. I just thought I would do a little post on my make-up + outfit for the night as it was a bit of an event.

I kept the eyes fairly simple and went for a grey/brown smokey eye based on the lovely shades in the Naked2 pallet by Urban Decay. I went for foxy all over the lids, taking it all the way up to the eyebrows with a large shader brush. Then, using a fluffy brush (something like MAC's 217 or Sigma's E25) I applied a mixture of suspect and verve on the outer 2/3's of the lid, leaving the inner corner free for some of the light and shimmery bootycall. Snakebite went in the outer corner as well as lightly through the crease taking it all the way in to the inner corner. To add a little bit of umhp to the look I took some of half baked and applied a teeny tiny bit of it to the centre of the eyelid. I traced snakebite along the lower lashline as well as lining my upper lashes with the pure black colour blackout. Last but not least, some mascara (Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara) and some false lashes. 

Then came the outfit. I opted for Black, White and Gold, with a Mint bag. The gold accessories were from BikBok and H&M, The mint bag also from H&M (and I am loving it), the dress from Silence + Noise via Urban Outfitters and the jacket from NafNaf. I ended up changing into my studded Zara leather jacket as I thought it made the outfit look more put - together, but other than that everything remained the same.
