June Beauty Favourites

Wow this year just flies by doesn't it? I can't believe it is already July! Oh well, I can't say I am complaining, summer is definitely my favourite season. But time and weather aside, as a new month has arrived the best beauty gems from the past one are brought out into light to be shared with the rest of the beauty-obsessed community. And without further or-do, here are mine!

In June I had a bit of a "summer clean-out" of my make-up which led to rediscoveries of long forgotten products. One of them being the Nars Blush and Contour Trio (1.) containing the well known blusher Orgasm, the highlighter Albatros and everyone's favourite bronzer Laguna. I got back into using this and could not for the life of me understand why I'd ever stopped, then the mini spots on my cheeks returned and the dreaded memory returned, reminding me that these are no-no products if I want my skin to be spot-free. Apart from that - with these three on my face I get the best looking healthy, bronzed glow I've ever had, hence it is a fave.

Number 2 is a newbie, brought back from Colombia. The Real Techniques Blush Brush is a big star in my brush collection now a days. Looking for a multitask brush - this is it. Blush, bronzer, contour, setting powder - this bad boy does it all. Number 3 is one of the products Molly sent me (post here) and it is one of her favourites too. Of course I'm talking about the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara - ahh there are nothing but good things to say about this.

4 is a new everyday staple, the Revlon Brow Fantasy in Brunette. Makes doing your brows very quick and easy. Number 5 has been worn almost every day since I got it, Teddy Eye Khol by MAC (haul here). Just like the eye khol, I have been wearing the MAC Eyeshadow Cork more or less on a daily basis. It is a perfect neutral, soft brown for the lid/crease.

Number 7 and 8 have made up my base along with the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser most days, the Rimmel Wake Me Up gives the dewy, glow my face needs for long hours at work and MAC Studio Finish Concealer (another rediscovery) hides any sign of late nights or too much sugar that your skin may be sporting.

All in all this has been a good beauty months - I have gotten a bit of a new routine and I am no longer stuck wearing my same-old same old smokey liner and tinted moisturiser look. High Five for that eh?

The Heroic City

..or as it is also called Cartagena de Indias. A city with an incredible history and a population that will open their arms to you and greet you with happiness.

I am currently nibbling away on a toast and some pineapple, about to get ready to head to the airport. After 4 days here I remember what made me love this place the first time I came here, almost two years ago. Instead of rambling on about historical details and how much I love the food and the people (but really, the food is incredible - especially at 'le Bistro', and the people are very nice) I figured the best way to share the love is with some pictures. So here you go.

The Event

I am finally starting to feel a bit better. Started taking antibiotics yesterday so I think they are starting to work already. Thank the lords. 

Anyways, on Thursday I struggled myself out of bed and went to my old school's graduation. I was supposed to graduate with them had it not been for the fact that well, I moved back to Norway and started a different school. Yesterday was prom but every inch of my body told me not to go so I figured I'd listen to it and stay in bed, which was a good decision I think. I just thought I would do a little post on my make-up + outfit for the night as it was a bit of an event.

I kept the eyes fairly simple and went for a grey/brown smokey eye based on the lovely shades in the Naked2 pallet by Urban Decay. I went for foxy all over the lids, taking it all the way up to the eyebrows with a large shader brush. Then, using a fluffy brush (something like MAC's 217 or Sigma's E25) I applied a mixture of suspect and verve on the outer 2/3's of the lid, leaving the inner corner free for some of the light and shimmery bootycall. Snakebite went in the outer corner as well as lightly through the crease taking it all the way in to the inner corner. To add a little bit of umhp to the look I took some of half baked and applied a teeny tiny bit of it to the centre of the eyelid. I traced snakebite along the lower lashline as well as lining my upper lashes with the pure black colour blackout. Last but not least, some mascara (Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara) and some false lashes. 

Then came the outfit. I opted for Black, White and Gold, with a Mint bag. The gold accessories were from BikBok and H&M, The mint bag also from H&M (and I am loving it), the dress from Silence + Noise via Urban Outfitters and the jacket from NafNaf. I ended up changing into my studded Zara leather jacket as I thought it made the outfit look more put - together, but other than that everything remained the same.

My Carry On Make-up Bag

Ok, let's do this. Considering the fact that I am still in bed feeling a bit under the weather my planned make-up look for today's post will have to wait until these puffy eyes clam down. Instead I bring to you the inside scoop on what I carry with me, make-up wise, when I travel and move around. Every girl has her essentials and these are mine!

 1. Compact spoolie and eyelash comb from No7. A lifesaver for clumpy lashes or bushy brows!

2. Bosca Green Tea Blotting Linens. Bought it at Sephora when I was in Orlando, and have loved it ever since - No more Oily T-zone!

3. Real Techniques Setting Brush. Perfect for a quick powder touch up of the T-zone.

4. Aqua Drop eye drops. As a contact lens wearer, this is a holy grail product for long days.

5. Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. I have very weak nails, but with this little baby I manage to keep them half decent and nurtured.

6. Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous for the days when I need a bit of 'umph' on my lips.

7. Rimmel Scandaleyes in Bulletproof Beige gives my eyes the pop of 'awake-ness' they need.

8. Maybeline Master Smokey Shadow Pencil. The quickest way to a smokey eye. Perfect for the Day-To - Night looks.

9.Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara. This works just as well on the bottom lashes as it does for touching up the top lashes. my little secret

10. Smashbox High Definition Concealer. It's not brain surgery, it's concealer...and it is needed.

11. MAC's Patisserie Lipstick. The perfect 'my lips but better' product. A lifesaver on stressful days.

12. Rimmel Stay Matte powder. The powder everyone raves about and loves - for good reason! Warm day? Long day? Busy day? This is your friend - don't loose it.

13. Carmex Lip Balm with cherry flavour and SPF 15. No one beats Carmex in my eyes. Moisture, lovely scent, sun protection and a hint of gloss.

14. Chanel Chance in my little Travalo! Perfume on-the-go for the girl who always forgets to spritz on some in the morning.

15. Bobby pins and hair ties are essential handbag/make-up bag essentials. You never know when you might need one :)

Beauty Gems From April

FT: MAC Watch Me Simmer, MAC Patisserie, MAC Over Indulgence Cremesheen Glass, Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free

It is that time of the month again! No, not that time of the month, but the time when a new month is approaching and all beauty bloggers and vloggers freak because they have to remember their favourite products from the month that is ending. Luckily I have been good this month and kept a list of all the products I wanted to mention! *stop typing to tap my shoulder* I might do a "second half" of this post where I go off on about other beauty products I have been loving such as skincare and haircare if that is something you'd all like?

Anyway, let's dive into this jumble of loveliness! First off: Lip products! For once I have been wearing something on my lips more or less everyday for a long period of time (I used to always get bored of reapplying and carrying around a lipstick...) and wait for it; I have been wearing a lipgloss! Some of you may know that I am not a huge lipgloss fan but this month I have been loving the combo of MAC's Patisserie with Over Indulgence over the top. This neutral, earthy-pink combo (earthy-pink, really? oh well I am awful at describing colours) makes a perfect everyday, sophisticated lip colour and the best part is that it lasts for quite a few hours before it needs any topping up! My other lip favourite has been Watch Me Simmer also by MAC! Super bright, coral/pink-y in colour and perfect for spring and summer! Wearing this makes me happy, and although it is a product that requires precise application it is super long lasting (it is an amplified lipstick) and very pigmented so once again, no need for frequent re-applications. That makes me a happy bunny.

Over to eyes! Only two products made it in this month and those were Clinique's very famous High Impact Curling Mascara and MAC's Soba Eyeshadow! Both are super products, obviously they woulden't be mentioned here if the weren't, and I have been using them both more or less everyday. The mascara is maybe not the best at curling but a coat of it over my Telescopic Waterproof mascara and my lashes look superb with volume, thickness, length and definition! The eyeshadow has been mentioned here on the blog before and there's nothing to say but that this is the best eyeshadow for a quick, all over the lid, wash of colour. 

Face, face, face, face. I have been loving my recent foundation routine and it is down to mainly two products. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzing Powder will give anyone who asks for it a glowy, soft, airbrushed-looking skin. The tinted moisturizer has the consistency of something super silky smooth and the powder has warm, but not orange undertones which can give even me the illusion of a tanned face. Believe me, that's not all that easy. Last but not least, the Revlon Pinched Cream Blush is natural yet fresh and glow-giving with its hint of shimmer and peach tones. I loves it very much.

A Pop of The Apocalypse

Well not the Apocalypse, but the Apocalips. The fairly new Rimmel product is everything but a dissapointment. Pigmentation - Check, lasting power - Check, smooth consistency - Check, and the list goes on. This is a badboy one should not mess with! I am serious - don't put this on and think you will be able to wipe it off without it leaving a trace. Hahah it does stain your lips for the hours it stays on, so if you go for one of the more boom in your face colours in the range, then make sure you know you want to wear it. Ok, so it might not be that big of a deal, some makeup remover will take it off but you get my point!  It is good.

In the pictures above I am wearing the lovely colour Stellar. A bright red with slight fuchsia under tones. As I mentioned, the consistency, longevity and pigmentation all fit a High End product criteria in my eyes, its only just that this is not a high end product! You get great quality, good colours and subtle shine with a slightly odd fruity scent for £5.99! It doesn't get much better than that, does it?

Blue Crop

Now a days I long for summer and the end of exams more than words can express. I therefore end up spending too musch time on planning blogposts, taking OOTD pictures, hang out on Twitter, Instagram, various blogs and YouTube...not good. Exams start next thursday which means I need to focus on studying, but it is just do boring! I really sympathise with all of you who are also preparing for or are in the middle of exams!

Anyways, despite the temperature still being quite low-ish (10 degrees isn't really anything to brag about in the middle of April..) I have whacked out my cropped tops and short skirts! Obviously still wearing them tights but you know, it still counts! Right?

The other day I was sporting a fairly new, blue cropped top by New Look together with a black pencil skirt in cotton from Monki and some bangles from around the world - literally. The top has a gorgeous texture/print in the fabric that reminds me a little of aztec pattern but it just gives the top more dimension and a little somethin' somethin'. I really think New Look  does have a few gems in stock this year and they have stepped it up a notch with their collections which gives them a humongous thumbs up from me at least!

Summer Edition

Spring and summer is slowly sneaking up on us and with it comes brighter, lighter and longer days which means that a change-up in the make-up and beauty bag might be about time. I have popped a few of my spring/summer beauty picks into my summery-blue H&M bag (much love for this baby) and thought I would share them with you. Included are 4 nail polishes in super bright, happy colours, a sunscreen, a body lotion, a lip butter and a BB cream! 

The body lotion is from a beauty store called Kicks who have their own beauty products including this Fruit Punch smelling treasure. It's light, non-sticky, moisturising, fresh smelling (fruity) and has a super cute packaging! What more can you ask for in a body lotion? Of course moisture is not the only thing our skin needs in the warmer months. As the sun appears more frequently we need protection against its evil twin (I'm looking at you UVA/UVB). I have a mini version of the Biotherm Lait Solaire SPF30 and I think I might go get a full size of it sooner rather than later because this is one heck of a good 'un. You know why? Because it does not go sticky and "oily" on your skin and face such as all other sun protectors. The scent is citrus-y and fresh and quite appropriate for summer :) As for face, I guess I am not the only one who prefer lighter bases during the summer months, and for now the L'oréal Nude Magique BB Cream is amongst the top competitors as my go-to light, dewy(but not shiny) summer base. It evens out the skin tone whilst providing a light coverage that leaves the skin looking healthy and glowing. I approve. Revlon Lip Butters have been under the spotlight ever since they arrived and I have selected the pink coloured Sweet Tart as my smooth, moisturising, summer lip colour. Then comes the nails. 4 were selected and they will stay close to my fingertips until the early autumn months. The lucky ones are Dior Acapulco, Essie She's Pampered, Essie Bahama Mama and Essie Mint Candy Apple (Featured in my March Favourites video). All are gorgeous in colour, opacity, longevity and consistency. Check, check, check and check!

Other than that I love loose and messy hair, laidback - slightly hippy/retro clothes, coral and peachy lip colours and converse shoes. They all go together so well in the summer months.

Cliché

Ok, prepare yourself because I am about to post a picture that is more cliché than any picture I have ever posted. I am a dreamer - an ambitious one too, and on top of that I am very determined and focused towards my dreams. Although many of my dreams are serious and "real" such as education, a job I love et.c. I have a fair few more silly ones as well. One of which is going to California and New York. Ugh, I feel like I am one of those 14-year-old girls with white hair and orange skin who plan on going to California to get a boob-job and become super-famous. But I promise, that is not at all my intention nor my dream. It's far from it actually.

I have always been facinated about the cultural diverstiy in Both New York and California, and as a music loving fashion geek, culture, style and inspiration will always intrigue me and therefore I want to someday go to these two places - to be inspired! And hopefully that someday will be next summer :D Yes, I am already thinking about next year's summer... That's just how I am

Anyway, after spending far too much time of my precious saturday drooling over pictures on weheartit I decided that I might as well make a little collage out of some of them: Enter the picture..

Spring is back

I know I've been a horrible blogger the past few weeks, and to be honest I have no other excuse than that I have had no inspiration at all. However I am back with some loaded batteries - the spring sun is a charger for more than solar panels! Next week I am off to England (London, Manchester and Leeds) for a week to visit some universities, see my aunt, uncle and cousin(s) and of course - do some shopping! Spring is coming at full speed and I believe it is time to bring out those lovely florals and pretty colours. I don't know about you, but I cannot wait to finally slip on a pretty dress wthout worrying about wearing thick, itchy woolen tights that does not match. So, in the time of spring I made a little outfit on my ployvore account that I would love to wear once the temperature rises. Mila Kunis Inspired

I was playing around with make-up the other night and found myself crating somewhat of a Mila Kunis inspired look, and as a fan of her smokey eyes I figured I might as well make a post about it.

So, to create this smokey, eye-popping look all you need is a very dark brown eyeshadow, a lighter one (e.g. Espresso by MAC), a light brown with some slight shimmer (e.g. Soba by MAC), a black liner (e.g. Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in noir) and an optional highlighter for the inner corner of the eye (e.g. All That Glitters by MAC). For the face you need, except from a non-matte foundation of your choice,  a good, matte bronzer that will give your skin a naturally darker colour and glow (e.g. Chocolate Soleil by Too Faced), and a light coral-pink blusher (e.g. Fleet Fast by MAC)

For the eyes, you start by applying your dark brown shadow close to your lash-line and smudging it out and up across your lid, making sure it is darkest close to the lashes. I used the darkest brown in a mall palette by Isadora called 50 matte chocolates, which contains 5 matte, gorgeous neutrals. I applied and smudged this colour using a Sigma E30 pencil brush. Then I repeated this step for the lighter brown, Espresso, only this time I used a Sigma E25 blending brush which is a great, more affordable dupe for the MAC 217. Using a short shader brush, E20 by Sigma, I traced that same colour Espresso along the lover lash line to create that smokey feel all around the eyes. Then I dusted some of MAC's Soba over the lid to blend the colours and to make the look smoother and softer. To finish it off I applied some of All That Glitters  to the inner tear-duct using the Sigma E55 eye shading brush and then I lined the upper and lower waterline with the Rimmel eye definer. After curling the lashes and applying a good coat or two of the L'oréal Telescopic waterproof mascara  the eyes were done and looking a little like Mila Kunis' sultry and smokey eyes. 

The matte bronzer was swiped through the hollows of my cheeks as well as lighlty tracing my cheekbones and temples, down the bridge of my nose and along my jawline. The gorgeous and fresh blusher was popped on to my cheeks and poof! Just like that I thought I was looking at Mila Kunis' face.

Ok, maybe not, but I wish I did! She is absolutely stunning and although it is impossible for us mortals to reach that level of gorgeousness, the least we can do is try, eh? The Girl Behind The Keyboard

Who am I to my readers? That was a question that popped into my head the other day, and I realized that you do not really know too much about me. Therefore I am making this post to share a little bit more of who I am... on an unserious level at least :)

1.) I love lemon, lime, oranges and any citrus-y foods, drinks or heh..beauty products. Although on the other hand I can't stand coriander, sour cream, balsamic/vinegar dressings and oils...

2.) I am planning to study Fashion Marketing/Promotion in the UK, as well as attending a make-up artist course so that I can one day work within the two industries that I love more than anything!

3.) I am obsessed with TV-shows...it really is a bad habit

4.) For years I have dreamt about attending New York or London Fashion Week, not as an audience but as someone who is part of what goes on backstage. It has now become my #1 dream to achieve.

5.) I love singing and dancing, especially when I vacuum and clean up around the house! However I wanted to pursue sining as a career when I was a little younger.

6.) I first got into makeup and beauty about 3 years ago when I came across a make-up tutorial by MakeupByTiffanyD on youtube!

7.) I have a silent desire to try modeling, but never had the guts to actually try it...Maybe that should be one of my to-do things!

8.) I speak three languages: Norwegian, English and Spanish, but I understand Danish and Sweedish as well although few people would count them considering I know Norwegian which is fairly similar.

9.) I am 1 year younger than the rest of my grade, as I kind of got to skip a year due to my 1 year in Colombia.

10.) I have 3 older sisters, whom I love very much! Now that I am older I feel like I have some very good friends in them which I am so grateful for :)

11.) I am a mahusive (a mixture of massive and huge) fan of Harry Potter. I know pretty much every line in the movies and the books are pretty much stamped onto my brain after I read them the 4th (..or was it 5th?) time! So yes, I love J.K.Rowling for creating such an incredible world, and I love Warner Bros. and Universal for opening their Harry Potter park and studio so that I, among all the other fans out there can feel like we are living in the magical world. 12.) I love roller coasters! Haha, quite random but I do :)

13.) I have a gap in my teeth that has always been there and always will be unless it decides to go away itself. Anyhow I do not intend to do anything in order to remove it. I like being a ginger with freckles and a gap between her teeth.

Origins

I came across an incredible offer today when I went to pick up a few necessary bits and bobs for my shower (shampoo tends to run out very quickly around me...erhm). Anyway, I wasn't supposed to actually buy anything but that shampoo and nail polish remover but then I walked passed the Origins corner and noticed quite the deal. 3x75 ml face masks for £35. I mean, that is plain ridiculousness! Originally they would be over £55 so I saved quite a bit there, and these are quite decent sizes, so I bet they'll last me a year or maybe more! To top it all up and make the deal even better, one of the 3 face masks was the Origins Clear Improvement mask, which Anna has raved about quite a few times, so obviously I have been dying to try it (and so I did tonight - review coming in a week's time).

Along with the Clear Improvement charcoal mask you get the less intense version of the DrinkUp Intesive mask, which is called (no surprise here) DrinkUp.  It works in more or less the same way as the intensive mask does, and I have a review on that here if you want to check that out. The last mask in the set is the Out Of Trouble (love that name) which claims to "rescue problem skin"which I have to admit sounds pretty cool, so I might try that one out during the weekend!

I think that for the quality, the amount and the simple amazing-ness of these products this was quite a small prize to pay, in other words it was a bargain! I am thrilled about stocking up on some facial goodies for the spring so expect to see reviews on these soon :)

New Year, New Goals, Same Old Dreams

2013. Two thousand and thirteen. I might be a little late on the band wagon but, wow, it is crazy how time flies, and with that I mean, really - it flies by, with a loud "swooosh". Whenever a new year approaches I start thinking about resolutions and goals I can set for the coming year, and every year I end up with the same, old, sticky clichés. Work out, eat healthy, work more with school work, blah blah blah... It's so old and used up! And honestly, when have I ever stuck with any of those? Never. Therefore, this year I will set myself some proper, serious goals that I haven't had before. They may not  be all eye-opening and original, but certainly better than my previous ones. Let's get on with them then, shall we?

Move to England and start Uni
Meet new people and become more independent and educated

Pretty obvious as I've just applied to universities in the UK, but this is what I am the most excited about for this year. Experiencing the life at university, learning about what I love (for those who do not know, I have applied to fashion marketing) and meet so many new people!

Travel

I told you they wouldn't all be original, this is one of the typical resolutions, but I really do want to travel and explore some more of the world this year! I have a few things in mind, but I need to decide on what to choose!

Develop my Blog

Any blogger of any sort will constantly be striding towards having a blog they are proud of, and although I am partially satisfied with the way my blog is now, there is so much more I can do with it! I also want to make it more of a full-time thing. That is once I finish my IB because I'm about to enter the time on exams which doesn't allow much blogging I'm afraid...

I need to leap into something that's unknown territory and try my best to make it work although it scares the hell outta me...I other words I need to:

Start a YouTube Channel!
Good god, now I've said is, and it's here, black on white. I've wanted to start making YouTube videos for quite a while now as I am obsessed with others on YouTube, but I find it really hard to sit down and make it all work... but new year means new opportunities, so I am going to do it. As making videos is a quite time-consuming project I doubt there will be any great progress until school's done, but I would love it  if you guys could give me some tips and tricks regarding this whole video-making thing. And if you have particular requests for what kind of videos you would like to see me do then feel free to let me know as I am quite lost somewhere between vlogs, reviews and tutorials..

Sort out my skin and clean my insides!

You were right, there had to be something beauty related, and well since my skin has been acting like crazy lately I have decided to take matters in my own hands for real this time and start from the inside to make my skin clear up.  I hereby open my door to everything vitamins, clean and healthy food, water and exercise. Hopefully it will do the trick, because my skincare is currently not enough on its own...

I consider these things as more of dreams and things I want to achieve (except from that last one - that's a pretty ordinary resolution...) and boy do I want to work hard to do so! Anyway, now that I've shared my dreams, goals and resolutions for 2013 I want you to do the same! Either by making a blogpost of your own (is you do, then link it in the comments so that I can check it out :) ) or by leaving a comment listing them. This way we can all work together towards achieving them and support and motivate each other along the way! I know this isn't like my typical beauty and fashion posts but I wanted to make this post, and so I did :)
